Fundus imaging after fluorescein injection
It is an examination in which the fundus of the eye is photographed after fluorescein (a contrast material) is injected into a vein.
This examination gives information about physical or functional changes in the retina, in the choroid, and in the head of the optic nerve.
After the pupil is dilated with the drops, a contrast material of the type fluorescein is injected into the vein. The contrast material is concentrated in the blood vessels, in the retina, and in the choroid. The person to be examined sits in front of a special camera to photograph the fundus (the back part of the eye).
Imaging is done several times, at specified intervals, before and after the injection of fluorescein.
