Treating frizzy hair with natural masks

Here is a list of a group of recipes that may help moisturize and nourish hair and give it a beautiful and soft appearance:

  • Vinegar, egg, and olive oil mask 

To apply this natural moisturizing hair mask, you must follow these steps: 

  1. The ingredients for the mask are prepared first, which are: 3 eggs, a spoon or two of olive oil, and a similar amount of vinegar.
  2. The egg is beaten, then olive oil and vinegar are added to it and the ingredients are stirred well until a thick mixture is formed.
  3. The mask is applied to the hair and left for a quarter of an hour, then the hair is washed and cleaned of the remnants of the mask.

This mask may help treat frizzy hair because it contains: olive oil, which may help repair damaged hair, vinegar, which may help clean hair, and eggs, which may help strengthen and moisturize hair. 

  • Avocado and banana mask

To take advantage of this mask, these are the recommended steps to follow: 

  1. At first, the mask ingredients are prepared, which are: the pulp of a ripe banana, and the pulp of a ripe avocado.
  2. Mash the banana and avocado well in a bowl, until you have a mixture that is free of any lumps or solid residue.
  3. Distribute the avocado and banana mixture on the hair and leave the mask for 30 minutes.
  4. Wash the hair with lukewarm water after the lapse of the mentioned period.

The potential effectiveness of this mask in treating frizz is due to its unique ingredients, as avocado may help lock moisture into the hair strands, while banana may contribute to enhancing hair elasticity and strength. 

  • Buttermilk and oil mask

To benefit from this mask in the treatment of roughness and dryness of hair, it is recommended to apply the following:

  1. In the beginning, the ingredients of the mask are prepared, which includes the following: half a cup of yogurt, drops of nourishing essential oil, and two tablespoons of olive oil.
  2. In a small, deep bowl, mix all ingredients together.
  3. On clean hair, the resulting hair mask is distributed.
  4. After 20 minutes, wash the mask with warm water.

In general, yogurt and oils may help condition hair and combat dryness. 

  • Other clamps

Here are some other natural masks that may help treat frizz:

1. Sesame oil mask

Mix two tablespoons of sesame oil with a little grated ginger, then apply the mixture to the hair and scalp and wash with warm water after 10 minutes. 

2. Coconut Oil Mask

The scalp is massaged twice a week with coconut oil before going to bed, and the oil is left on the hair until morning, then washed with water and shampoo as usual. 

3. Hibiscus mask

Grind a handful of hibiscus leaves and petals well with a little water and add to the mixture dried hibiscus powder, then apply the mask to the hair and wash with water only after 20 minutes, and clean the hair with shampoo the next day.

Treating frizzy hair with a natural lotion

Regularly using a natural, homemade hair wash can help treat frizz and combat dryness. Here are some recipes that can be followed to prepare a natural hair wash:

  • Honey and rice milk lotion: Dissolve two tablespoons of honey in a cup of rice milk, then wash the hair with the mixture, and leave the mixture on the hair for several minutes before washing it with water. 
  • Apple cider vinegar wash: Mix equal parts of apple cider vinegar with water, then use the mixture to rinse the hair, and after a few minutes, the hair is washed with lukewarm water. 
  • Lemon and honey lotion: Mix two tablespoons of honey with a tablespoon of lemon and a cup of water, then wash the hair that has been previously cleaned with shampoo with the mixture, and after 10 minutes, the hair is washed again with water.  

Causes of rough and dry hair

  1. Genes and heredity, as some are born with coarse hair by nature. 
  2. Health problems, such as hormonal imbalance associated with hypothyroidism, calcium deficiency, dry scalp, and some feeding disorders.

  4. Other factors, such as hot and dry weather, excessive exposure to sunlight or wind, and aging. 

Additional tips for treating coarse hair

It is also possible to follow the following tips to help treat coarse hair and resist dryness: 

  • Avoid using hair care products that contain alcohol.
  • Sleeping on a pillow whose cover is made of silk.
  • Using natural masks rich in ingredients that may help moisturize the hair deeply, such as the following ingredients: aloe vera, honey, jojoba oil, and avocado oil.
  • Trim the ends of the hair every 8-10 weeks.
  • Avoid using heat-based styling tools.
